Touched by a Vision
Q: How can we begin to define a new morality, new guidelines for how to conduct ourselves in the world?
A: When one goes beyond the separate ego, one has the experience of being touched by a vision. It's a vision of the context in which all of this is occurring. It's glorious. And the context itself is inherently ethical and inherently moral and inherently good, but to a degree that's almost impossible to put into words. There's a pure motivation in the first cause itself, behind the Big Bang. It's the force behind creation itself. One becomes consciously aware of the inherent goodness in the purpose of life itself. And that kind of experience really opens one's heart in a way that very few things are able to do, because one discovers what the essence of life is all about. And inherent in that experience is an obligation to be true to it, not to betray it in the way that one conducts oneself in life itself.
